Curious About Fertility or ART? Start Here.

AFRH stands for the Association for Fertility and Reproductive Health in Nigeria. It’s a professional body focused on assisted reproductive technologies (ART), fertility care, and reproductive health..

  • Organizes annual international fertility conferences.

  • Advocates for regulation and ethical practices in ART (e.g., IVF, surrogacy).

  • Provides a registry for IVF cycles and outcomes.

  • Promotes public education on fertility through open-house events, dispelling myths around fertility treatment

  • The conference is a flagship event bringing together fertility specialists, embryologists, researchers, legal/ethical experts, and the public.

  • 2025 Theme: “New Frontiers in ART: Road Map to the Future.”

  • It includes workshops, hands-on training, panel discussions, and an open house for the public.

  • For 2025, it is held at the Oriental Hotel, Lagos, with virtual participation also available

  • Mission: To promote best practices in fertility care, support practitioners, drive ethical and safe reproductive health services, and enhance access to quality fertility treatments.

  • Vision: To elevate fertility care in Nigeria through education, advocacy, and innovation and to set global-quality standards.

AFRH advocates for regulation and certification of fertility clinics and practitioners because currently, the lack of comprehensive national regulation is a concern.

They also warn against “quack” fertility practitioners who operate without proper accreditation.

According to media reports, only some states (e.g., Lagos) enforce minimum practice standards in partnership with AFRH
