Role Overview

AFRH is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Editorial Assistant to support the Editorial Board in managing and coordinating our editorial processes. The Editorial Assistant will play a critical role in ensuring the quality and efficiency of our scientific publications, working closely with authors, reviewers, and Editors to facilitate a smooth publication process. This position requires a candidate who is proactive, organized, and has a strong background in scientific research and editing.

Key Responsibilities

- Assist the Editorial Board in managing the editorial workflow, including article submissions, peer reviews, revisions, and approvals.

- Review and edit manuscripts for grammar, clarity, and adherence to AFRH’s journal style and formatting guidelines.

- Coordinate communication between authors, reviewers, and board members to ensure the timely progression of articles through the editorial process.

- Perform administrative duties related to the publication process, including organizing meetings, maintaining records, and preparing editorial reports.

- Assist in updating editorial policies and ensuring compliance with ethical and scientific standards.

- Perform administrative functions related to other AFRH activities, especially Social Media management.

Qualifications

- A Bachelor's degree in the medical or social sciences

- Background in research is desirable.

- Exceptional organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.

- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with attention to detail in both content and formatting.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with online submission and review platforms.

- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with various stakeholders, demonstrating professionalism and integrity.

Desired Skills and Qualities

- Experience with manuscript editing and familiarity with scientific writing conventions.

- A good understanding of fertility and reproductive health topics is highly desirable.

- Knowledge of editorial standards and best practices in scientific publishing.

- Flexibility and adaptability to handle a variety of tasks and respond to changing priorities.

- Experience in Social Media management is an added advantage.
