Professor Mahesh Choolani is one of Singapore's leading Obstetricians & Gynaecologists with a special interest in high-risk pregnancy care and foetal medicine. He serves as a faculty lecturer at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine at the National University of Singapore and as an Associate Professor and Senior Consultant in the Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology at the National University Hospital (NUH) where he leads the High-Risk Pregnancy Unit of the Maternal-Fetal Medicine Division.


One of his team's most recent and notable breakthroughs is FlashFISHTM, a rapid diagnostic test performed at amniocentesis that can detect Down's Syndrome in unborn babies within a few hours - this technology has put Singapore on the world map as being the first country to offer Same-Day Prenatal Diagnosis.


He has published over 100 articles describing his work, and in 2010, he received the Benjamin Henry Sheares Memorial Lecture Award for his outstanding work in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
